Do what you love!

I’ve reached a very important milestone in my life today! Booty Camp Fitness just launched it’s 100th location in Canada!!!

AAAAYYYYYYYYEEEEEE! Doin’ a little happy dance!

It’s been a 3 year journey to reach this point and I couldn’t be happier with my life. I’ve learned and grown a lot over the last 3 years. I’ve been through ups and downs, and now to be so fortunate to have 100 locations of my “baby” makes me feel so fulfilled.

I thought I’d share the top 5 things that I’ve learned over the years of development as a female entrepreneur.

Lesson #1: Do what you love

If there is one thing that I believe you MUST have for success in any area of your life it’s passion. It’s the one word that sums up everything I do. I even tattooed it on myself because it really says it all.

If you do what you love you will be able to find happiness, perseverance, willpower and drive to get you over the humps (and trust me there are humps) and make your dreams a reality.

I love working in fitness, I love exercising, I love inspiring other women, I love teaching other women how to take care of themselves and their bodies, I love boosting people’s self esteem, I love working with other incredible ladies, I love awakening passion in others. I LOVE MY “JOB”!!!

I mean where else do you get to do an ab workout in Hawaii??!

Lesson #2: Grow Grow Grow

“Every challenge is an opportunity to learn and grow”…by Sammie Kennedy ;)

I have grown soooo much over the last 3 years that people do not even recognize me anymore. There is a great deal of fear and unsureness when you start your own business. Over time you learn that every folly does NOT mean you will go bankrupt and that small failures are just feedback mechanisms. Every mistake gives you a chance to find a better way to do something so that you can improve the experience for customers, staff and everyone involved.

Mistakes and challenges are the exciting part about business. It means you’ve got to start thinking, building, brainstorming, and CHANGING (scary word for most people) to adapt and make things better. It’s where you get to step back and take a good look at what’s going on and get creative. If you follow lesson #1 that means FUN!

Lesson #3: Be true to YOU

I learned this lesson the hard way in life through a very negative relationship (which I am fortunately no longer in) and the lesson applies to business success as well. There is always going to be someone who has a plan FOR you and tries to change you, mold you and make you/your business what THEY want you to be. If you stay true to yourself there are no regrets and you will always be happy.

I’ve heard it said the best in a favorite song of mine “Details in the Fabric” by Jason Mraz. The line is “Hold your own, Know your name, And go your own way”. BINGO

Lesson #4: Surround yourself with positive people

There’s no “I” in Team. It’s so important to surround yourself with like minded, positive, supportive and passionate people. I attribute most of my success to the amazing team of women that I surround myself with daily (and to my incredible supportive boyfriend Sebastien). My staff exemplifies all these lessons and most importantly they are passionate about Booty Camp. I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. I cry more at my work out of laughter and joy than out of sorrow that’s for sure!

Part B of this lesson is to remove the negative people from your life. If you allow others to bring you down, well, you can only blame yourself for letting it happen. Negativity breeds more negativity and the same goes for positivity and happiness. You choose which team you want to be on.

Lesson #5: Work hard, play hard

Ask anyone who works for Booty Camp and they will confirm I live by this rule. At Booty Camp we celebrate our successes (big and small). We hold parties, we take the time to enjoy each other’s company. We hold conventions full of fun!

I feel that everyone who works WITH  me (NOT “for” me) should enjoy their jobs as much as I do. And I make it happen!

You only live once, make the most out of it!

Celebrate with friends ….

Take the time to do things you enjoy….

Laugh at yourself…..

And you will be authentically happy!

Always living with passion,

Sammie

Amazing Blog Sammie! What you say is so true and the proof is in your results. I was reading an article today that talked about being realistic and not positive which I found laughable. Look at all the successful people and what is the common trait? They believed in themselves and there passion.
It’s pretty much the only way to succeed. Congrats on #100 and great article!

    Hey Costa,

I’ve met my share of realists along the way. To each their own but most would consider it “unrealistic” to go from 1-100 locations in just three years. Dreams and fantasies CAN be reality if you “bring it” in life!

When you think about 100 locations – that is a lot of booty getting fit!
Living with passion, enthusiasm and a positive attitude is what makes it all happen in life and that is what life is all about when you sit back and think about it.
