How come, you ask? The good people of benourished, Canada’s premium freshly pressed juice, raw food & cleanse company, have hooked me up with a three-day cleanse that I’m SO excited to take part in!
I first got into the concept of juicing when Sammie shared an amazing documentary called Hungry for Change (It’s on Netflix!) that exposes secrets that the diet, weight loss and food industries don’t want consumers to know.
A quote that really stuck with me said something along the lines of ‘we’re overfed but nutritionally starved,’ which really made me want to ensure that my body is getting the nutrition that it needs. One of the topics in the documentary was juicing and it’s a lifestyle change that I’ve since committed to. Almost every day I treat myself to a green vegetable juice in the morning!
I started 2013 off with a three-day juice cleanse and felt awesome at the end – full of energy, lighter, and overall cleaner and healthier! When offered the opportunity to do a guided cleanse of course I said yes!
benourished offers different types and levels of cleanses so I’ve committed to the Shine Level 1 cleanse which incorporates pressed juices, salads and raw food bars for snacking. I was SO excited to receive all these goodies this morning!
So far today I’ve had three of the juices: Green Envy, Be Mighty & the Green Alkalizer which is my favourite of the bunch (mmmm celery, green apple, swiss chard, fennel & lemon!) and truthfully? I feel very clear-minded and not hungry at all – I snacked on the Coconut Dream bar and am not even sure I’ll have the salad provided for dinner (maybe I’ll have a few bites of it though, for good measure).
What I’m really interested in seeing at the end of this three-day journey is the following:
How will my energy levels be affected? Last time I juiced, by day three I couldn’t do any intense workouts but I’m hoping since I’ll be eating raw foods I’ll have the stamina to keep my exercise routine going!
How will I feel? Mentally clear? Physically lighter?
What tweaks will I be willing to make to my diet permanently? I’m good at juicing daily, but I’d love to do a weekly one-day reset and make a point of eating more raw foods.
